Where to Get Support

In the first six weeks after birth, your midwife is the  best person to contact for support with breastfeeding.

Should you require additional information or support, here are the contact details of people who can help in the Wellington region:

Private Lactation Consultants (cost involved)

These two lactation consultants service the Wellington region and will come to your home to assess your needs and provide practical solutions.

Plunket/Karitane Family Centres (free)

These centres operate a free clinic for women, you just need to phone ahead and make an appointment:

 The Breastfeeding Centre (free)

The Breastfeeding Centre is a "drop-in" clinic, open Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm, and is situated in Bedford Court, Cannons Creek, in the Pregnancy Help premises.

La Leche League (free)

This is an organisation committed to supporting breastfeeding women around the world.  They can provide information and telephone support, and are free of charge.
