Our founding directors are Penny Wyatt, Chris Kelly, Deborah Stace, and Cara Baddington
Together, we are passionate about supporting New Zealand women in their breastfeeding journey.
Between us we have one full-time job, one part-time job, four part-time independent contracting jobs, four households to run, six children aged 5 and under, three dogs, a cat, and 8 chickens!
Penny Wyatt is a midwife and a Lactation Consultant who also runs breastfeeding classes at Wellington Hospital. Penny’s colleagues say they can spot women who have attended Penny’s classes as they know how to hold their babies to get a good latch, and have realistic expectations of the work involved in getting breastfeeding off to a great start.
Christine (Chris) Kelly is a qualified Childbirth Educator* working with Parents Centre. Chris is the mum of two beautiful breastfed boys and is committed to teaching and supporting families breastfeeding their babies.
Deborah Stace is a qualified Childbirth Educator* working with Parents Centre and the Wellington Multiple Birth Club. Deborah is proud to have breastfed her twin sons and is passionate about empowering women to have confidence in their ability to breastfeed their babies.
Cara Baddington is a qualified Childbirth Educator* working with Parents Centre. Cara has successfully breastfed two children and takes a special interest in supporting Wellington women to overcome their breastfeeding challenges.
*To become a Childbirth Educator, students must complete two years of study and support a number of women through labour and birth in order to gain their qualification, which enables them to teach antenatal classes. Cara, Chris and Deborah all have extensive experience teaching antenatal classes for Parents Centre as well as other organisations, and are highly valued within the Childbirth Education community.
